I've begun my gallery of Oceania with photos of New Zealand and scenery from the hike over the
Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand's Tongariro National Park. This hike passes
through the spectacular volcanic scenery of Mt. Ngauruhoe, Mt. Tongariro,
and Red Crater. These volcanoes are still active as often evidenced by the
smell of sulfur from smoking steam vents. From the highest point of the
hike - Red Crater - the beautiful Emerald Lakes are visible below.
